My thoughts and some new stuff

On this page, I will be writing some of the thoughts I have periodically. Also, you may find some new products we are testing listed here.

11.27.07- Wow, as I sit down to write this I realize it has been almost a year!  This has been a very busy year here at J. Grim Racing.  We have had so many things going on this season.  In March we added a Legends car to our racing program.  The car is driven by Justin Grim.  The season went of fairly well with the car as we learned the ins and outs of the new car.  By the end of the season we had gained a lot of experience and came away with a heat race win.  We look to expand our efforts on the Legend car next year.

We continued our involvement with the new Keystone Quarter Midget Club throughout the year.  I am happy to report the club made it through the first season.  There were many bumps along the way but by seasons end the club was running pretty well.  Hopefully things continue to progress and the club continues to grow and thrive.

Unfortunately with our Legends racing schedule, the upstart club and the day to day work schedules, we were not able to assist our customers at some of the bigger races of the season.  I did have the chance to drive the Kochenash's trailer out to California for the Dirt and Western Grands.  I was not able to stay for any of the racing at the Dirt Grands, but the facility looked like it would provide some great racing.  I flew back out to California drive the rig back home and was able to take in the A main day at the Western Grands.  As always the A mains showcased some great racing.  Prior to leaving for the trip west I was able to attend the Region 4 points race in Michigan and it was interesting to see how the event ran.  I was only there for the Sunday portion of the show, which is the Deco day.  They run all of the Honda classes on Saturdays.  We had been contemplating attending the Eastern Grands but our schedule just did not allow for that to happen.  Congratulations to everyone who attended the Grands this season.

Throughout the season, we were able to help out Payton Zellers at the Keystone State Club while his dad was busy helping run the race events.  We really enjoy helping out Payton at the track, he is great kid who really enjoys racing.  We like his never give up attitude while he is racing, he gives a 100 percent effort whenever he is behind the wheel.  It is great to see how he has improved his skills since he started racing.  We also got to attend a few races Payton ran at Oaklane as well as the Keystones at Honey Brook.  In just one season on the asphalt tracks Payton has become a contender for victory on a regular basis.

Over the off season we will be working on a few new products to add to our inventory.  We are waiting on any results of the QMA spec tire ruling coming out of the national meeting to address what we will be handling for tires.  We are continuing production of the pit carts, bending bars, T-wrenches and catch cans over the winter.  We have a few spots available for winter maintenance on cars, call us to schedule your car now.  For those of you who will be competing over the winter months good luck.

I am starting off with a clean slate here for 2007.

There are a lot of changes going on here in our world of quarter midget racing.  Our driver Justin Grim ran what he plans to be his last race in quarter midgets at Hagerstown in their Witch's race.  He is hoping to make the transition to the Legend Car Division in 2007.  Although, there is a possibility he will run some races in the half class this year.  We would like to congratulate him on a wonderful career as a driver in the quarter midgets.  We put a lot of effort into 2006 to make it a great season for him.  Although we came up short on our goal to win a national title, the season was a great one.  We would like to thank everyone who made Justin's time in this sport possible.  We have run with engines from several builders, all of who were a part of the success.  Justin has wheeled many G-Force Chassis built in house and the Boomerangs were great during his transition to asphalt.  He finished his short asphalt career behind the wheel of a Bullrider Race Car, thank you to the Fitzs for a great car.  There are so many people who have been instrumental in making this all possible.  A very special thank you to Mom and Dad for your un-wavering support.  Mom, you flipped so many burgers and scored who knows how many races to make this all possible.  Dad, you have worked so hard for the clubs we were a part of so we could all have a place to race.  You attend hundreds of meetings, worked on track maintenance and so much else it sort of seems like you were crazy.  We have made so many friends during our time in this sport that we will never forget.  The memories this sport has given us is something I don't think we could have had any other way.  Best of luck to everyone.

We are very involved in the upstart Keystone State Quarter Midget Club.  This club has evolved from a one time 50 th anniversary race held at the Schnecksville Fairgrounds.  The Fair and Fire company was so enthused by this race they have asked to have a permanent facility built to run on a weekly basis.  Local support has been amazing and the club is set to kick off the first season in mid May.  The track has a great clay surface which should provide a great racing surface.  The club is tying to build a first class facility.  Racing will be on Tuesday nights throughout the summer and fall.  This should be a great opportunity to introduce quarter midget racing back to the Lehigh Valley area.

It has been just over a year since we have been selling Bullrider Race Cars and parts now.  I could not be happier with how this end of our business has gone.  We have been able to gain new customers who had Bullriders and needed parts.  We have also been able to get some of our existing customers into new Bullrider Race Cars.  With the support network for Bullriders available we have been able to give our customers a good starting set up for almost any track.  We look forward to continuing our involvement with Bullrider.  We are expanding our stock of Bullrider parts as our sales grow.  We just delivered two 2007 Bullriders with the newest updates.  One of the changes is an inboard left front shock mount.  This new design allows you to get the left front tire in a little more to gain a bit of offset.

We have gotten our pit cart production up and running now and sales are going well.  We have been able to produce a functional light weight cart at a reasonable price.  We are now working on some optional upgrades to the basic cart.  We are planning on stocking these carts for immediate availability.

We have designed an aluminum catch can.  Our catch can is compact and mounts simply with two dzus buttons.  We are a little behind with the schedule on getting these done, I hope to have the first batch in by February 10.  They will come complete with attaching Dzus buttons at $24.95.
